Our mission at Word Vancouver is to create opportunities that connect and showcase our vibrant literary arts community, and to deliver our programming for free. We believe in the power of words, in their ability to inspire engaging discourse, to share and preserve rich cultural histories, and to unlock the imagination.

We believe that a strong engagement with literary arts, in all its forms, can have a transformative effect in our communities, in how we see and interact with the world around us.

And we fundamentally believe that access to the resources Word Vancouver provides should be barrier-free. Our commitment to keeping our main festival free ensures that everyone feels welcome to participate in our diverse programming.
